About NatHALIE Guinamard
Nathalie Guinamard is an award-winning figurative artist working in ink from her studio at Hylands Estate, Chelmsford. She studied Fine Art at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, Oxford, before completing a Postgraduate Diploma at Chelsea College of Art and Design.
Her work has been shortlisted for major prizes including the Jerwood Drawing Prize, National Art Open and ING Discerning Eye. In 2008, she was selected for ARTfutures and the Red Mansion Art Prize exhibition following a residency in Beijing, and exhibited at Alan Cristea Gallery alongside three other emerging artists.
In 2012, Nathalie was one of 30 artists commissioned by the Royal Mail to design a special edition stamp for the London Olympic Games. Her illustrations have also appeared in publications such as The House of Windows by Alexia Casale, World of Interiors, The Times Educational Supplement and Condé Nast Traveller.
Her recent solo exhibition at Chelmsford Museum, An Untamed Line, featured a collection of figurative drawings exploring experimental techniques with ink and water. By embracing accidental and unexpected marks, Nathalie’s work balances intentionality with the uncontrollable, creating a subtle interplay between figuration and abstraction. The drawings invite viewers to experience the depth and beauty of the human experience, with each person responding in their own unique and personal way.
Nathalie’s studio at Hylands Estate is open to the public on the second Sunday of each month.
